What is Art Therapy?
RHG is one of the few places in Adelaide to offer Art Therapy, an effective evidence-based therapeutic approach to counselling that aims to foster mental health, wellbeing and healing.
Art Therapy is a creative therapy proven to be a highly effective therapy among those living with disability and emotional regulation challenges due to it’s therapeutic supports.
NDIS & Art Therapy
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) acknowledges Adelaide Art Therapy as a form of Psychological and Counselling Therapy for those with NDIS funding allocated to these categories.
Creative Therapy
Art Therapy allows the client to control their therapy sessions in a relaxing and inviting environment, as they work through problems, find new solutions or insights about themselves, expand personal understanding, increase their sense of wellbeing, relief and hope and achieve their goals using media such as but not limited to art, movement, play, sound, sandplay, poetry or storytelling.
Our Therapist
As a qualified counsellor, Mary’s work is underpinned by over 15 years of experience assisting people to build capacity, thrive in challenging situations and reduce isolation and loneliness.
Mary is passionate about people and will always respect you and your unique circumstances without judgement.
Mary bases her work in art therapy on the belief that we are made up of mind, soul and spirit and as such uses a holistic approach integrating both verbal and nonverbal methods that Foster self-exploration and personal growth.
